As part of its ongoing efforts to preserve environmental cleanliness and improve public spaces, and in implementation of the regional cleanliness and environmental protection programs and the recommendations of the Governor of Monastir,Jemmal Municipality, in coordination with the services of the Regional Directorate of Equipment of Monastir, carried out field cleaning operations today, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in the Medraka Essahal area, in the presence of the Delegate of Jemmal, the Secretary-General in charge of managing the affairs of Jemmal Municipality, and the Head of the Jemmal Equipment Subdivision.

Jemmal Municipality and the Regional Directorate of Equipment mobilized the necessary human and material resources. The operations included the removal of household and similar waste, waste generated by industrial and commercial activities, as well as construction waste and debris that had been illegally and randomly dumped. The intervention also included clearing and cleaning the roadside areas along the Medraka Essahal road, contributing to improving the overall appearance and ensuring the safety of road users.

The Municipality emphasizes that this intervention is not an isolated or one-off campaign, but rather forms part of the regular and ongoing field operations carried out by municipal services, despite the extensive intervention area and the approximately 9 km-long route falling within the jurisdiction of Jemmal Municipality, which requires significant human and material resources.

However, despite the continuation of these interventions, the Municipality unfortunately observes that some individuals repeatedly dump household waste and construction debris in areas that have just been cleaned. This results in the rapid reappearance of illegal dumping sites, increases the volume of interventions and the burden placed on the municipal and equipment services, and contributes to the deterioration of the overall appearance of the area.

⛔ Accordingly, Jemmal Municipality confirms that it will not limit its actions to repeated cleaning operations. In the future, it will strengthen monitoring operations and take action against offenders in coordination with the security authorities. All necessary legal and deterrent measures will be taken against anyone who deliberately dumps waste or construction debris illegally, including the seizure of the means and equipment used to commit such violations, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

The Municipality also calls on all citizens and civil society organizations to cooperate and actively contribute to maintaining a clean environment and to report any violations
